Sometimes we need a guide to help us navigate our own unique journey of healing and transformation.....

Hello, my name is Paul and thank you for stopping by.

However you got to this website, I am so sorry that you are going through a challenging time.  You are probably here because you have tried many different things and:

  • You are not seeing the progress you would like and are feeling stuck OR....

  • You have seen some progress and want to start doing the deeper work to change the deeper subconscious patterns that leads to true transformation.

I have had health issues my entire life but they really started to get bad about 20 years ago.  Most of the specialists I went to go see did not have any real answers for me.  I learned more from others who had recovered from strange or mysterious symptoms than any of the doctors I went to go see.  This latest stage of my journey started in early 2020, when I started a popular brain retraining program.  Since then I have added many tools, taken many classes, worked on a couple of certifications, and have helped support thousands of people from around the world in their healing journey.

Many years ago I remember a health practitioner telling me that I was a "medical anomaly" and he was not sure what to do with me.  At least the person was honest about that.  I didn't realize at that point that I would go on to see at least two dozen more in different specialties and got very similar answers, with more than one of them telling me I would probably be this way the rest of my life.  At that point I couldn't get out of bed without assistance.

As I continued to get worse I felt misunderstood and abandoned by the medical system as well people who were part of life at that time.  My family and friends did not understand what I was going through and they all had different ways of dealing with me.  Most of my friends either ghosted me altogether and most eventually stopped talking to me.  I didn't think things could get worse, but they did.  Eventually I borrowed a friend's tent and moved into his back yard, not wanting to be burden to him and his family (though the real reason was I could not handle how loud it was inside and the smells really bothered me).

There was a part of me that felt that I would never get well again, but there was also another part of me that felt like I could get well.  Both parts would fight with each other, sometimes for weeks or months at a time.  I felt like I was losing my mind.

I am not going to go into detail on what I went through and if you're curious of what specific labels I have overcome so far you may scroll all the way to the bottom and see a list of those things.  I no longer believe in labels anymore, at least not the majority of them.  I write that because after seeing so many people, not just myself, overcome things that were supposedly "incurable" or that a doctor had "no answers" every single year, I become more convinced that the human body can heal from almost anything if given the right support and environment.

Many people ask me how did I get from being bedbound with dozens of symptoms, in a dark room 24 hours a day and not getting sleep for months at a time?   How did I go from not being able to eat any foods, unable to watch tv or listen to music, and all I could do was lie down in bed in a dark room and not much else?  Many people would say that it was a miracle that I over came these things and there is some truth in that.  But what got me well was neuroscience, tuning into the vibration and frequency of nature, reframing my unsupportive thoughts, processing the survival energy (aka trauma) that my body was holding onto, and above all else, believing in myself and a higher power and doing my daily practice from a place of absolute self love and absolute self responsibility and complete surrender.

I know some of the things that I say or write may be triggering to some people and if that is you, I want you to know that I share these things from my heart and of wanting to be helpful while also being compassionate.  Frankly, if I had read the previous paragraph years ago it would have really upset me, mostly because I was not ready to hear such a message, nor did I have the brain function to really take it in.

One of the reasons why I don't have a step-by-step program or a clear, concise plan that everyone could follow is because I know that everyone's healing journey is unique.  There may be some common themes that many people share on their healing journeys, but there are also many things they do not and are unique to them.  I think programs can be a great starting off point for many people, but the programs that have evolved will tell people to take their plans, methods, or tools and make them their own.  And some people need help navigating those things and that is where I come in (more on that below).

While not a comprehensive list, this is what I see as foundational principles to helping people support their bodies to heal.  And granted, some of these principles will have an ebb and flow journey of their own:

  1.  Self love

  2. An understanding of basic neuroscience on how the nervous system works (this includes the brain)

  3. Acceptance

  4. Responsibility

  5. Awareness

  6. Cultivating the ability to challenge and reframe one's own thoughts

  7. Cultivating the ability to sit with discomfort

  8. Cultivating the ability to lean into fear

  9. Cultivating the ability to recognize patterns, thoughts, behaviors, and emotional states that are not supportive

  10. Acknowledging that ebbs (aka flare ups, dips) are the healing while we do our practice

  11. Basing progress on other things and not solely on symptoms

  12. Being open to looking inward and looking for our own blind spots

  13. Daily movement (if that is available to you, even if it's wiggling a body part)

  14. Connecting with nature

  15. Making the commitment to go all in

  16. Belief in something bigger than oneself

  17. Understanding that transformation is what leads to symptoms changing

I will admit that a few years ago if I had read the above list, it would have left me seething with anger and frustration.  So I understand if some of these do not pertain to you or they seem like they do not resonate.  That is okay. I understand.

The important thing is to have a willingness to apply some of these principles, even if it feels incongruent or strange.  When the nervous system has a faulty stress response and is stuck in fight or flight or freeze (or a blend of any of these) there can be a strong resistance to change.  And in my experience, slow and gradual change is often an effective approach because one does not want to push the nervous too hard or too fast.

As someone who has a passion for helping people navigate the neuroscience, the countless modalities, methods, and perspectives, I can certainly help you refine your practice and suggest tools to use.  However, what I have seen things shift for people more than anything else has been identifying blind spots and/or limiting beliefs that may be hindering progress.  And the definition of progress is not focused solely on symptoms.  My definition of progress is focusing on doing the things that will create real transformation and it is these things that will lead to symptoms shifting.

In other words, we don't know what we don't know and sometimes we need someone else's help to help identify them.  This is my zone of genius and something I have been refining for over 20 years.

The second thing that helps things shift are finding the resistance in our lives, identifying the unresolved inner conflict(s), and bringing that conflict to resolution.  Unresolved inner conflicts (UICs) often reside in the subconscious mind which is one reason why they can be difficult to identify.  This is also my zone of genius as I help support the process of helping you identify what may be going on in the subconscious.  One cannot change what they are not aware of.

An example of a real-world unresolved inner conflict

The third thing that I see that helps people shift things is implementation.  Going through a program and having access to tools are only effective if they are used consistently.  If a person does not have a system of built in accountability, then implementation can be challenging.  I acknowledge that this may not be available to everyone as this is something that may be outside of someone's training zone (also known as the ability to handle something).

After working with hundreds of people over the years, these three areas are the ones that seem to come up the most and this is where I can help navigate these waters as I have not only gone through this process myself many times over but have helped many people around the world.

This kind of work that we would do together is not easy.  It requires commitment, being open to trying new things, a willingness to look inward at some possible hard truths, and being accountable to yourself along every step of the way.  To be clear, we are not going to do anything or talk about anything that you do not want to talk about.  We are also not going to go back and look at the past in detail because that is not necessary to heal.

So what should you expect if we were to work together?

Once the application has been accepted and we both agree that we would be a good fit for one another, then it all starts with getting to know you better, your history, the symptoms you have, what things you have tried, what you liked and didn't like, and anything you would like to share that you think might be helpful for me to know.

The first session together is trying to get at the root cause of at least one of your symptoms.  So we often start with the one that has the most impact.  One of the things that was very hard for me to accept for many years was the concept of mind-body medicine.  Can the nervous system, which includes the brain, really cause so many mysterious symptoms?  I found that the answer to that question was "yes!".

While things like musculoskeletal issues can be a factor in symptoms as well as certain pathogens, one of the foundations to optimal health is the nervous system and resolving one's unresolved inner conflicts.

Because everyone's coaching sessions are very personalized they all look different.  The basic framework that I use is that we focus on is the symptom or issue that is the most pressing.  From there I will ask a series of questions to help find out what may be the subconscious pattern(s) that may be a factor.  The main goal of doing this exercise is to find and identify the subconscious pattern that may be affecting progress or may be the root cause of the imbalance in the body.

Once the blind spot / subconscious pattern is identified then we will work on it together.  Because many symptoms are the result of an ongoing unresolved inner conflict it may take time for it to resolve.  A person can resolve a conflict in one session.  One of the side effects of bringing a conflict to resolution is that it may bring on a healing phase which can lead to an increase in symptoms.  When this happen people often think it's an ebb and that progress is back sliding but that is not what is going on at all.  It's the body's way of recalibrating itself after a resolution has happened.

Some people have several active unresolved inner conflicts and some may be decades old.  Ones that are older tend to need more work.  So this type of work has to be done carefully and slowly for most people.  The reason why I generally work with only one symptom at a time is because I do not want to overwhelm the nervous system and the body with too many healing phase symptoms.

If you would like to explore the possibility of working together, please read the paragraphs below before sending an email for the application.  Thank you.

I know how important it is to find the right person to help support you on this healing journey, someone that aligns with your values and where you are at in your journey.  I understand that there are a lot of coaches out there and you have many to choose from so I am grateful that you are here doing your research.  As equally important is that I want to work with people who are ready to do the work, are ready for deep, transformational change, and take full responsibility for their own well being.

At this time I currently only work with individuals who have completed a healing, brain retraining, or any program that focuses on regulating the nervous system (which includes the limbic system of the brain) for at least 6 months.

Because of the nature of the type of work we may be doing together, I currently am not able to work with people who have extreme sensitivities (examples:  sounds, light, textures, scents, to name a few) or are unable to maintain a focused conversation for at least 30 minutes.

As we will be working together to find the root mind-body causes to what may be contributing to the symptoms, this kind of work requires anyone I work with to be willing to take an honest, objective look at themselves, be open to constructive feedback (my feedback is always wrapped in a loving, understanding container), willing to answer questions which may challenge their thoughts or beliefs (in a very non-confrontational way and I will always ask for consent), be coachable, and ready to do the transformational work necessary in order to have the best chance at achieving the desired outcome.

The majority of the people I work with have, on average, done at least 2 healing programs, worked with at least 3 other coaches, have seen many health practitioners, and come to me when they are ready to explore what subconscious patterns and core beliefs (and blind spots) may be hindering their process.  So I tend to work with people who have been on their health journey for many years, even decades.

While this type of transformational work can achieve shifts in a few days or weeks for some, for most people it may take longer. And I understand that the protective part of the brain that is in charge of keeping us secure and safe may want to know a more definitive answer, but in good conscious I cannot give one as the brain and the nervous system will change when it is ready to do so.

If you feel you meet these criteria then I encourage you to send me an email to help@rewirethebrain.org and ask for the application and I will send you the special link as soon as possible.

If you're not sure about the criteria or have any questions about anything, please contact me at that email address.

After you fill out the application I will reply within 1 to 2 business days.  If I feel we are a good fit, I will send some additional information on how to book a session along with payment information.  If I feel we are not a good fit I will reply with my reasoning or may have some additional questions for you (or we can both agree to get on the phone and have a short chat).

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at help at rewirethebrain.org

Thank you for your time.

A Little Bit Of My Story

While I had health issues for many years, in 2018 things had gotten so bad that I had to go on medical leave from work and move in with my parents out of state.  In 2020, after 2 years of putting it off, I finally dove in and tried a popular brain retraining program.  Over time I added more tools that I found supportive such as somatics, tapping, empowered self talk, journaling, inner child work, and more.  And I over came many things, some of which I had been told I would have the rest of my life.  While not a comprehensive list, these are some of the things I have overcome.

I'm about to mention some symptoms and medical labels, so if it is not available to you yet to read about them, please skip past the bullet points and go to the next section below:

  • Complex PTSD

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity)

  • OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

  • Anxiety

  • Panic Attacks

  • PEM (Post Exertional Malaise)

  • General Malaise

  • Suicidal Ideation

  • Chronic Body-Wide Pain

  • Food sensitivities

  • Migraines

  • Vertigo

  • Rashes

  • Nausea

  • Fever

  • Malnutrition

  • Sympathetic Dominance

  • Hypervigilance

  • Lyme, Bartonella, and other co-infections

  • Arthritis

  • Air hunger

  • Hallucinations

  • Eye floaters

  • Gastritis

  • Esophagitis

  • Barret's Esophagus

  • Acid / Bile Reflux

  • Adrenal Issues

  • Arthritis

  • Insomnia

  • Depression

  • Uncontrollable Crying

I truly believe I overcame these labels not solely because I used my tools consistently, but I became a different person.  The old version of me felt unworthy, felt small, felt that putting other people's needs ahead of my own was the way to go, and fear and uncertainty ruled my life.  Things began to shift for me when I addressed my beliefs, my values, and comforted my inner children.  This required me to adopt an open mind and a willingness to challenge and change beliefs that were not supportive.
